Assistant VAT Manager
Our client is a large and well-established professional services company providing audit, tax, accounting, legal, consulting and financial advisory services to international companies, and they are looking for an Assistant VAT Manager to join their expanding team of professionals in their Limassol office.
Reporting to the Senior Manager and Director of the Taxation Department
Managing a portfolio of clients in relation to VAT and Taxation assignments
Managing a team of VAT consultants and responsible for their time management
Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews
Responsible for the technical development of the team members
Ability to interpret VAT law and apply it as required
Providing VAT consulting and advice to clients
Delivering VAT reports, concentrating on VAT compliance and identifying risks that affect the clients business
Liaise with and manage the working relationship with Cyprus Tax Department in relation to routine audits
Managing ad hoc enquiries on behalf of a portfolio of clients
Perform VAT audits on clients and be able to prepare reports with relevant findings and proposals for rectifying any errors identified
Work closely with the Senior Manager/Director of the team.
Preparation and presentation of seminars to both clients and colleagues.
Preparation of letters/reports/rulings of opinion in relation to VAT matters that will need to be submitted to the clients and/or to the Cyprus Tax Department
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics/Law or any other related field from a reputable university
ACA/ACCA qualified. Possession of International Tax qualification will be considered as an advantage
Minimum 5 years of experience in VAT related position, 2 of them in a supervisory role
Excellent knowledge of the Cyprus VAT legislation, Circulars issued by the Tax Department in Cyprus, EU VAT Directive and ECJ cases
Able to study and understand the laws related to the indirect taxation in Cyprus and other jurisdictions
Ability to manage and develop staff in a highly interactive team environment
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to work well under pressure and to multitask and complete assignments within time constrains and deadlines.
Strong personality with the ability to take initiative and identify solutions
IT literacy with sound knowledge of Excel/Word/PowerPoint
Fluent in Greek and English languages, both oral and written
